When it comes to deodorants, there are two brands that have never disappointed me – Vichy and Borotalco. While Vichy is more on the pricey side, Borotalco can be bought for about 3€ at your local drugstore or market. I’ve tested almost all of the deodorant products from Borotalco’s line and I must say that I’m pretty impressed by their effectiveness. The range of deodorants is rather large, they offer ones in spray packaging and roll-ons. I prefer the latter, however on heavily sweaty or stressed-out days I go for a combination of both. They all contain Microtalc that absorbs sweat and don’t contain any alcohol, which is a huge plus, at least for me, since I can easily use them right after shaving my armpits and they don’t dry out my skin. My favourite is probably the Borotalco Original with its distinctive unique scent, while I also love the Borotalco White with a white musk scent, a bit more feminine. Borotalco Invisible is the one I recommend to those who can’t stand yellow or white marks on their clothes, on the other hand Borotalco Pure would be »the pick« for those who are looking for an effective deodorant without aluminium salt. To sum it up, the scent of Borotalco products might not be everyone’s cup of tea, however I believe it is rather fresh, powdery, delicate and uni-sex. This brand has been on the market since 1904, they must be doing something right, right?

SPF is definitely the biggest protector against aging and a factor that can prevent everything from sunburns, allergy-related outbursts, hyper-pigmentation and even decrease the chances of getting a melanoma. In colder months, I usually look for day creams with SPF, when the sun really comes out, I layer on a proper SPF product. One of my go-to brands when it comes to sun protection is Vichy and I’ve been loving their newest products from the renewed Ideal Soleil range (previously named Capital Soleil) lately. I’ve been using a separate SPF on my face than the rest of my body, however looking for the same properties in both – a non-sticky texture, UVA and UVB protection and no white-veil (if possible).

Vichy Ideal Soleil Bronze SPF30 tan optimizing hydrating face gel-fluid (17€) has a moisturizing formula enriched in melanin activators responsible for the natural tanning process. It’s suitable for men and women who seek sun protection and at the same time want to get a natural-looking tan. It is not a self-tanning product, it only helps you achieve a tanned look in a healthier way. Those with normal, mixed or oily skin types could use it individually, those who’s skin is more on the drier side may need an additional serum or moisturizer underneath. It’s light, easy to apply, spread and it’s quickly absorbing. It definitely passes the tacky-texture-free test.

Vichy Ideal Soleil Bronze SPF30 tan optimizing hydrating spray (22€) is as the face-gel adapted to sensitive skin, protects you from the damaging effects of UV rays while optimizes tanning. It’s light as well, non-sticky and comes in (probably) the best packaging ever. It has a special water and sand resistant on/off spray system in the cap; you can even use it turned upside down (or any other direction) – a huge plus, at least for me. I’ve been loving both of the Bronze products, they provide me much needed protection, while also helping me get at least some tan.

Deborah Milano brought out the first makeup collection devoted to our planet’s most important life source, water. The Water Effect Collection consists of some amazing colourful products that come in an artistic packaging designed my Alessandro Mendini (you could spot them displayed at EXPO in Milano as well). It is a limited edition (available from the end of June) worth checking out if you are a true makeup collector or just looking for some products to brighten up your makeup stash.

Il Rossetto lipstick (3,95€) comes in 4 amazing bold shades. The one I used to create this makeup look is the 01 Fresh Apricot, a stunning bright orange. The pigmentation is superb, formula is rather long lasting and not drying at all – it’s actually quite moisturizing and creamy actually (it contains hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, sunflower seed and mimosa oil).

Glossy eyeshadow (3,84€) is a rather innovative product. It’s actually an eye gloss formulated to create a super-cool wet-looking sheen on your eyelids. Its clear, light and non-sticky consistency leaves a glossy vinyl shine and a dazzling effect. I love wearing it underneath some regular pressed or mineral eyeshadows, it makes an amazing effect and lets them stay on the eyelids even longer.

Probably my favourite one out of this collection is the Watery Mousse eyeshadow (4,53€). This moist mousse leaves a hint of colour with an amazing metallic sheen on my eyelids. The application is super easy, you just apply and blend it with your fingertips. I’ve been obsessed with the 01 Fair Nymphea shade, which is a warm toned bronzy-orange shade that matches my (green) eyecolour perfectly. It’s the most natural one out of the 4 shades available, however they are all truly stunning.

Last but not least, Liquid Gel eyeliner (4,73€) is the product that awakened my love for the eyeliner flick. It’s water-, transfer- and smudge-proof with an ultra fine tip that makes drawing a subtle (or thick) line super easy. I’ve got mine in 01 Deep Black and I am kind of sorry for not picking up some of the bolder shades instead. A dark black is timeless for sure, on the other hand the bolder ones are much more in trend right now.

I’ve been writing about beauty products for years now, and it’s safe to say that my writing affected a few people. At least the people I know. My boyfriend Jan is definitely one of those who changed their “beauty routine” because of me quite a lot. He still doesn’t know a lot about ingredients, however he can distinguish between a good or bad product and he knows why he should cleans and moisturize his face (at least every now and then). Today, I decided (with his permission) to share with you some products he has been using and liking recently.

Vichy Dercos Neogenic redensifying shampoo (13,50€ for 200ml) has been a staple of his for years now. It doesn’t irritate his scalp and he never had dandruff after using it. For many of you, who don’t know, he is a track&field athlete, so in warmer months he usually practices outdoor where sunscreen protection is a must. His favourite at the moment is the La Roche-Posay Antihelios XL Comfort facial cream with SPF 50+ (16€ for 50ml), which is waterproof, light, non-comedogenic and it absorbs quickly. Mainly, the characteristics he looks for in facial creams are light texture and moisturizing ingredients. That’s why he loves the Afrodita Men 24h Hydra Extreme cream with matt effect (6,70€ for 50ml). On his table, there is a Nivea Men multi-purpose cream (2,61€ for 75ml/3,60€ for 150ml) that comes in a rather amazing jar packaging. He mostly uses it on dry parts of his body, on this hands and even sometimes on his face. When it comes to deodorants, he has been a fan of Old Spice in stick form for years and don’t see it changing any time soon. However, lately he has been using the Nivea Fresh Ocean deodorant and Nivea Invisible for black&white anti-perspirant (2,99€ for 150ml) in spray and liking them a lot.

I can imagine this post is rather different from my usual ones. Hopefully, some of my male readers will find it informative (or at least female ones buying for them).
