When summer hits the city, my beauty routine changes completely. It’s the time for fresh scents, SPFs and vibrant colours, and there’s no better time to clean up your beauty stash for sure. The idea for this post came up on a blogger’s meeting a few days ago, so Gejba (Parokeets blog), Nika (Beautyfull blog) and I decided to round up our summer essentials for these hot summer days (and nights). Make sure that you check their blogs and scroll down to read (and see) about mine.
SPF
SPF is a must for me on a daily basis. If you are one of those, who can stand the sticky creams, I’ve got the solution for you. La Roche-Posay invisible mist SPF50+ (20€) is not only super light, but also invisible (no marks on clothing, yaaay!) and water-resistant. It has a lovely delicate fresh scent and it’s easy-peasy to apply.
SOFT VIBRANT LIPS
No matter the season, a lipbalm is something I cannot live without. Being a sworn user of Carmex, I also love the Eos Medicated Tangerine (7,00€), while on sunny days I usually grab the Lemon Drop with SPF15. This year orangey-coral lip colour is having it’s moment for sure, one of my fav being an Artistry Signature Color in shade 19 Coral Sunrise (24,59€). This luxurious lipstick has an innovative packaging and a soft, nourishing effect on my lips.
LE PARFUM OF 2015
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream used to be my number 1 summer scent. While it in some way still is, my newest addition to my perfume collection – Nuxe Prodigieux le parfum (39,00€ for 50ml) has totally won me over. It’s a summery-floral scent that will make you fall in love with it in a second. I haven’t gotten so many “what perfume are you wearing?” questions in ages. A look at the perfume pyramid screams »summer« all over – top notes are orange blossom, bergamot, mandarin orange and orange; middle notes are rose, magnolia and gardenia; base notes are vanilla, coconut milk and pebbles. A true summer in a bottle!
BRONZER FOR THE SUNKISSED LOOK
I am one of those pale girls that never gain much tan and always need SPF protection. On the other hand, I am still a huge fan of sunkissed makeup looks and that’s where a nice flattering bronzer comes handy. Lily Lolo Miami Beach (18,79€) is a pressed bronzer I’ve been loving this summer. It gives my skin a natural-looking bronzed glow. It’s texture is soft, the pigmentation is great and the shade is a bit more pinky-bronze toned. It’s a must for me this summer and it probably will stay highly loved by me all year round.
SOMETHING CITRUSY
Fresh, invigorating, zesty scents are a perfect match for hot summer days. And, oh gosh how I adore the L’Occitane Verveine Agrumes collection. Citrus Verbena fresh shampoo (14,70 for 250ml) is loved by my hair while I use it as a body wash as well, it feels super refreshing. As my body moisturizer, I’ve been adoring the Citrus Verbena body milk (23,40€ for 250ml) that melts into the skin and helps to freshly moisturize it. It’s a perfect pick for the evening, giving me a fresh, clean feel, plus mosquitoes apparently don’t like it so much.
This time my outfit post is a bit different as you might notice. I’ve decided to partner up with Nika who runs the Beautyfull blog, and photographer Domen Blenkuš who did an amazing job again. Nika and I, were both wearing dresses from this year’s Spring-Summer collection named Metagrafit designed by Anđela Lukanović working under a Slovenian brand Rašica. These sometimes-understated black and white bands give such a »chic yet casual vibe«, they are showing up on many runways lately as well as being a huge trend on the streets. They are actually easier to wear than you might think, I would highly suggest you give them a try.

A drugstore brand that totally won my heart in the past few months is Max Factor with its newest launches. Both novelties are a staple in my summer daily makeup routine.
Maxfactor Creme Puff Blush (12,79€) is often compared to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush due to similar shades, finish and texture. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a dupe, but rather a cheaper alternative. There are 6 shades in total, in Slovenia you can get only 4. They are baked blushes, buildable yet sheer, not overly pigmented and easy to work with. You can either go for one layer (which gives your skin a natural glow without any additional highlighter needed), while you can also build it up and get more colour payoff. Their texture is soft, I’d say it’s somewhere between powdery and creamy. Picking a favourite out of my collection of four is mission impossible. 20 Lavish Mauve is the least shimmery, it’s a cool-toned rosy-violet shade that suits my skin tone perfectly. 15 Seductive Pink looks rather similar, however it’s more pigmented, has more golden shimmer/glow and would probably work amazingly for everyone, it’s universally flattering and easy to combine with different makeup looks in my opinion. 05 Lovely Pink is lighter peachy-pink, one that’s even more shimmery and would go well with spring-summer makeup. Last but not least, 25 Alluring Rose is not a classic blush nor a bronzer, it’s somewhere in between. It gives a natural reddish-bronzed look and it’s a perfect summer pick. I am extremely impressed by all 4 shades, I’ve been wearing them non-stop and I definitely recommend you check them out in your local drugstore.
Along with the blushes, the Max Factor Colour Intensifying Balm (8,49€) came to our drugstores. This lipstick-lipbalm hybrid works on similar principle as the blush – you can also wear it sheer (applying one layer) or build it up. It’s a perfect to-go lip product, because it’s easy to apply (without the help of a mirror). As mentioned it is not extremely pigmented nor longwearing, however it feels lovely, light, creamy and moisturizing on the lips (thanks to nourishing Shea, coconut and mango butter). The scent reminds me of Hitschler Softi candy, it’s sweet but not overwhelming. On Slovenian drugstore shelfs you can find 5 shades; 20 Liscious Red is the only one missing in my collection; 30 Refined Rose is probably my favourite (a natural classic rosy shade); 10 Charming Coral is a lovely peach that’s perfect for Spring and Summer makeuplooks; 05 Sumptuous Candy is a light bright pink; while the 25 Voluptuous Pink is a brighter hot pink. Overall the shades are universally flattering and easy to wear on a day- or night-time.
I kindly suggest you to check out these blogs to discover more about the newest Max Factor products: Mateja’s beauty blog, Passing Fancy, Memento Mori and a website Etiketa Magazin.
Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.
