Strobing is quite possibly my favourite makeup trend these past few years. I love luminous skin and I do everything I can to achieve it (if you have a drier skin type as I do, you’ll know what I mean by “doing everything”, a radiant glow isn’t achieved easily). If you are one of those who haven’t heard about this trend; if that’s even possible; let me explain: strobing is a new way of (better: term for) highlighting, where you don’t need any additional contouring – you are applying a highlighter in parts of your face that catch the light. By doing that, you will get a dewy, shimmery, more youthful glow, skin will look luminous, your features will be enhances and defined. Enough rambling, I’ve prepared for you some tips that may come handy:

1. Prep your skin with a hydrating moisturizer or serum.
The first thing you need to know is that strobing works best with a light and dewy base. I love using the Afrodita Pearl Prestige elixir of beauty (29,90€) with a light formula enriched with extract of white pearls and active peptides. It’s a perfect pick for tired, dehydrated skin and provides an excellent base for all additional beauty products to achieve the perfect glow. Another great pick is Vichy Idealia Life serum (38€), which is enriched with a unique combination of molecules that helps transform the appearance of skin – it looks instantly radiant, fresh and has a beautiful pearlescent finish. It not only works great as a base, you can also dab some of it with fingertips on areas where you normally highlight or mix it into your foundation.

2. Use a primer, if necessary.
One of the best I’ve found so far is rather budget choice – P2 Perfect Face Make up base (6,28€ BUY HERE). It helps your makeup stay in place longer, it gives a subtle glow and smooths your skin. It comes in a tube with a pump, it’s easy to use and looks lovely on my skin.

3. Find a highlighter that matches your skin tone.
Make sure that the highlighter you’re using complements your skin tone and gives you a natural subtle glow. Those with fair skin should go for champagne tones; with a light to medium skin tone for pinky-champage; olive skin matches lovely with golden shades; while darker skin toned are suggested to use terracotta. However, there is no strict rule of shade matching, find the one that suits you and makes you feel comfortable. I would highly suggest blending any harsh edges with your fingertips, wet makeup sponge or a high quality brush. If you are looking for some advice on budget highlighters, I can not recommend enough the Essence So Glow! cream to powder highlighter in 20 bright up your life (2,79€), while the lightest shade out of four in ELF Studio Golden Bronzer (3$) is a great pick if you are looking for a bit more goldeny-bronzy look.

4.Where to apply the highlighter?
It can be applied anywhere where the light would naturally hit your face. Sweep it over your cheekbones and apply slightly up in a C shape to your temples. You can also apply it to your cupids bow, underneath your brow bone, on the center of your lips and even on the bridge of your nose. Don’t overdo it, however don’t be scared to step out of your comfort zone – you’ll be nicely surprised with the result.

Sometimes a good heavenly-smelling beauty product is enough to help you sleep well…

Nivea Creme Smooth shower cream (1,99€ for 250ml) has an amazing creamy-freshly-clean scent, rather similar to the typical Nivea one. it’s infused with Shea butter which is an ingredient notorious for its beneficial effect for the skin. My skin feels hydrated, nourished and moisturized after using this one and I am sure I’ll be using it again in the future (I need to use up all of the yummy Afrodita ones before). The formula is rather rich, while the scent is what sold me for sure.

Alchemy Argan Leila (34,90€ for 15ml) is a small bottle containing a miracle mix of the most precious oils. It would be a great pick for all of those who suffer from dry and stressed skin, since a natural mixture of argan, myrrh, ylang yland, rosemary and sandalwood oil really helps to renew, strengthen and repair skin. Only two to three drops of this luxurious dry oil are completely enough to relax myself in the evenings, while the ingredients work for me while I’m sleeping.

Nivea Cellular Perfect Skin Night Essence (14,00€ for 40ml) is another beauty product I’ve been loving in my night-time routine. In my opinion, it proves that a good skincare product doesn’t need to cost a lot of money. It does feel and look rather luxurious for a brand like Nivea and it contains some lovely ingredients – like magnolia extract and concentrated lumicinol, that apparently reduce marks and discoloration, diminishes skin tone irregularities and help reduce wrinkles. One pump of this product with a combination of a few drops of Alchemy Argan Leila works for my skin, even without any need of an additional face cream.

A few days ago Domen (photographer) and I visited the reconstructed part of Ljubljanica riverside – named Špica. It looked lovely on the photos I’ve seen online, so I decided to grab the Sony HX90, I’ve been testing for a few days, and gave it a proper try. As many of you may know, I’ve been using the Sony α50 (all my beauty photos are made using it) and I’ve been more than happy with it. However, it’s still rather large, heavy and cumbersome, certainly not the most practical when it comes to short trips and strolling around the city. The Sony HX90 is probably your best choice, if you are looking for a do-it-all camera, since it’s small enough, versatile, offers impressive zoom and connectivity options (WiFi and NFC). For the 430-480€ price tag you will get an amazing camera, perfect for light-packing holidays as well as taking photos for your blog. I’m seriously thinking about getting something similar.

Afrodita is an amazing Slovenian beauty brand and I am not saying that just because they kindly invited me (and a few other beauty bloggers) to a rather luxurious day at their headquarters in Rogaška Slatina. They did a remarkable job treating us as queens and it’s safe to say that many of us asked ourselves the »did-I-just-die-and-went-to-heaven« question a few times; at least I did.

The main products of our beauty day were the newest cream shower gels with gentle cocoa particles (2,10€ for 250ml). They are paraben, paraffin and silicone free, have skin-friendly pH and they smell good enough to eat. Raspberry cream has a fresh, creamy, fruity aroma enriched with a complex of vitamins A, C and E and is probably my favourite out of the bunch. Pistachio cream with a nutty-cream fragrance is followed shortly after, it’s enriched with a precious nut oil complex, gives your skin intensive care and helps protect it from drying. Vanilla cream is the »heaviest« of the scents, most appropriate for colder months in my opinion. It has probably the most natural fragrance of bourbon vanilla I ever smelled. The same applies to the Orange cream. I know this one will be highly liked by my boyfriend, however I’m a bit held back when it comes to orange. This warm sweet orange scent surprisingly suits my nostrils, however it’s still waiting to be used. To sum up, these shower gels by Afrodita are super creamy, nourishing and smell good enough to eat. I would highly suggest you give them a try, if you can get your hands on it. A warning to everyone: do not swallow and consume them, they are not eatable (regardless what your sense of smell is telling you).
