Vichy Idealia

It’s very rare that I discover a skincare range I love from the first product to the last. I’ve tried a fair amount of bits and bobs from different brands and there’s one I always come back to. Vichy has been one of the first brands I discovered as a blogger (and newbie skincare enthusiast), furthermore Vichy Idealia smoothing and illuminating day cream has been one of my all time favourites. The range quickly expanded, following up with the Vichy Idealia Eyes, my no-sleep-bad-skin savoir. The multipurpose product, Vichy Idealia Serum has won me over with the amazing effect it has on my skin, making it all radiant and glowy. The same goes for the Vichy Idealia BB, for which It is safe to say it’s my favourite BB cream of all times (I ran out if it a few days ago, need to stash it up right away!). Last, but not least, Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep, a night-time gel balm that has been added to the Idealia family last year. It’s an amazing range, perfect for anyone looking for lightweight, silky textured skincare, which gives the skin a subtle, radiant glow.

What to wear to prom

Following up with the What to Wear Prom Edition trilogy, my second outfit pick is a bit more cheeky, colourful, playful with a little bit of the retro vibe. The geometric print of this Max&Co. dress reminds of the 60s fashion days, the same goes for the leather jacket which is a great combination of modern and retro. Classic black pumps and a black purse are a rather neutral addition, which are a nice opposite to the colourful dress, while matching the jacket. This prom style choice would be great for an artistic girl that wants to stand out of the crowd.

What to wear to prom

The first “serious” fashion dilemma one can have is probably prom related. A season for high school prom definitely means some dress-related anxiety and sometimes even some big fashion fails. It has been years since my high school prom and I must definitely say that (at least in our country) prom-fashion has made a huge step forward. You see less and less gaudy and shiny (plastic-like) dresses, more girls are mainly looking for a dress they could actually wear on other occasions as well (a prom dress shouldn’t be stuffed in the attic like your grandma’s wedding dress). On the other hand I always get a few “what to wear” questions in my inbox, so I teamed up with a brand called Max&Co. to share some trendy, but different prom dress choices.

The first one being a relatively simple, yet romantic dress in a powdery-rose shade. Its biggest advantage is the fact that it can look great on anyone (A-shaped dresses are extremely flattering to most body types). Knee length is just about perfect for wearing on different occasions as well (such as weddings or other celebrations). The collar with lace detailing is detachable and adds a nice preppy, but romantic touch to the whole outfit. Since the colour is in the “neutral spectrum”, you can get away with wearing accessories and shoes in almost any colour – I decided to go for a coral purse and dark blue sandals with gold detailing to make a statement.

Finding a good coffee place in our capital, Ljubljana isn’t hard. I have some standard places I go to on a weekly basis, Zvezda definitely being one of them. I was more than happy when they opened a new café in the National Gallery of Slovenia.

One of the selling points of Zvezda in National Gallery is definitely its view. While sipping a tasty cup of coffee (or any beverage of your choice), you get the most amazing view at one of the most important Baroque monuments in Slovenia, the Foundation of the Three Rivers by Francesco Robba. Zvezda is a great place to stop for a cup of excellent coffee and dessert after seeing an exhibition, since the atmosphere is pleasant and calming, while the ambiance is a nice mix of modern and traditional.

Speaking of delicious coffee, I would highly suggest you add some of Zvezda’s gourmet sweet treats to your menu. A cake dedicated to Luiza Peskajova, a Slovenia poet, is definitely one of my favourites. Luiza cake is a true masterpiece, that will satisfy anyone’s gourmet sweet-tooth.

It’s no secret that the body gets older every day, the same goes for skin. Wrinkles can start showing up as early as your mid-twenties, depending on variety of factors. Everything from sun damage, genetics, unhealthy diet, hormonal imbalance and poor skin care regime can result in skin aging. At this point you cannot run from the inevitable future, you still can do a lot to make the whole process of skin aging slower.

Having dry skin type means that my skin doesn’t produce enough oil (sebum), which is one of the main factors of quicker aging (good news for all of you crying over your shinny-oily skin today, you will be thankful for it one day, it ages slower!). When I look in the mirror, I do notice some small lines here and there, they are more noticeable when I’m tired or don’t follow up my usual skincare regime. I am (only) 25, but I believe prevention is a much better strategy than repairing the damage. I choose my products wisely and try to stick to the following 4 rules of skin-age-prevention:

Protect against the sun: it is important to protect your skin against the harmful effect of the suns UV radiation throughout the whole year. It’s not realistic (nor healthy) to avoid the sun completely, but you can protect your skin by applying sunblock (SPF) on a daily basis.

Find a skincare regime that’s suitable for your skin type: keep in mind not all skin is the same. We have different skin types and different skin concerns. The key to establishing a good, healthy and efficient skincare regime is to find products and methods that work for your skin individually. I can recommend you to check out the latest Clarins Multi-Active Day & Night creams, which are all full of active ingredients suitable for different skin types. They offer day and night versions of creams for those with dry, normal or combination skin type. A great skincare is in fact the best way to have some control over how you will look in the future. The ingredient to look for in a cream that will help you fight early signs of aging are: antioxidants, moisturizing and nourishing ingredients that are both cell-communicating and skin repairing. Clarins really took all the aspects of skin aging under consideration and came out with the duo of products that is a great anti-aging starter kit. I’ve been enjoying the day and night version for dry skin for a few weeks now and I can say my skin definitely looks and feels more radiant and healthy (even when I’m not getting enough sleep or being under a lot of stress!). The products are rich enough for my dry skin, their texture is balmy and easy to apply, while the scent is mild, but divine.

Eat healthy & have a balanced diet: I believe all things are best in moderation, but the fact that the health of your skin can be improved from the inside out has been confirmed. Therefore I try eating foods rich in healthy oils and antioxidants, which help protect my skin cells against free radicals. Drinking enough water is important for skin hydration as well. Avoid drinking too much alcohol and smoking in order to look younger.

Accept the inevitable: in the society so focused on looking beautiful and young, women these days are more and more concerned about physical appearance. Keep in mind one is truly beautiful when being happy and confident. A big part of it is definitely embracing those little lines and accepting there’s no product that can turn back the hands of time (except some heavily invasive procedures). There are definitely things in life that are #worththewrinkle.
