Soft pink. Warm. Chic. With a little bit of fluff. My new pastel pink coat has totally won me over and it’s safe to say that it is one of my favourite outerwear pieces in my wardrobe at the moment. By now you have probably noticed, there is a lot of pink in my closet lately. Traditional thinking is to invest in a coat in classic colours such as black, blue and beige, and I can totally agree. But still, since we are treating pale pink as the new neutral, a pink coat can be an investment piece as well. Right?

The Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris is without a doubt one of the best luxurious hotels in Paris. Located just a few steps from the Champs-Elysées, in the golden triangle, this glorious palace is a place where all your senses will be pampered to their fullest. This elegant, classic, but modern hotel offers a lot even for the most demanding guests – impeccable service, stunning décor, impressive rooms, relaxing spa and a true pampering for even the most refined taste buds. 5 Michelin stars under one roof in 3 restaurants, Le Cinq***, Le George* and L’Orangerie* promise an exquisite culinary experience. While dinner in one of them and a stay at the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris is still on my wishlist, we had the chance to enjoy Afternoon Tea at their La Galerie lounge. And let me tell you, this was an experience to remember…

Afternoon Tea time: from 3pm to 6pm

When you step into the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris, the first thing you notice are the remarkable flower displays, which lead you to the La Galerie lounge, decorated with 19th century paintings, amazing Flemish tapestries and carefully selected furniture. While a pianist plays in the background, you are welcomed by highly professional staff. We decided to both go for High Tea “À La Française” (60eur per person), starting with a glass of Champagne, assortment of fine savories, followed by the selection of pastries, cannelés from Bordeaux, madeleine, financier and scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. For our beverage of choice, we decided to try one from the rich selections of their teas and their traditional hot chocolate (24eur), served with milk, natural whipped cream, chocolate beads and marshmallows. True chocolate heaven! Together with the hot chocolate I was served Abatilles mineral water to enhance the chocolate flavour.

Chef David Bizet and Maxime Frédéric signed under these gourmet creations, which offers a perfect, balanced mixture of strong and subtle, traditional and experimental, powerful and simple flavours. Afternoon tea worth the splurge!

Hotel Adele & Jules is the second hotel we stayed at while in Paris, France. As the Hotel Therese in the middle of Palais Royal area, this one is also a lovely boutique hotel owned and passed on down the generations of the de Lattre family. Together with the third one, the Hotel Récamier in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, they represent a true Parisian getaway experience. Hotel Adele & Jules, being the youngest of the three, convinced me with a great location, friendly staff, clean, bright, spacious and tastefully decorated interior.

Hotel Adele & Jules is located in the quite passageway in the Grands Boulevards district.

Hotel Adele & Jules is located on a quite private road in the otherwise vibrant and lively Grands Boulevards area. It is centrally located by the Grands Boulevards metro (lines 8 and 9 with great connections to all the Paris attractions), a short walk away from the Opera Garnier and Galeries Lafayette and a good 20min walk to Montmartre, the Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge. Also, in the other direction, the Louvre is a 20min walk away. It is a great match for everyone, who wishes to thoroughly discover the city.

French balcony and croissants, I cannot get enough…

The same as our room at Hotel Therese, our Boulevard Club 23m² room at Hotel Adele & Jules had a chic French balcony, which was big enough to enjoy morning coffee, fresh fruits and croissants. Having this luxury in the centre of this magnificent city, was something I fully took advantage off. “Ajda, just sit down and enjoy” was my inner voice whispering to me. Otherwise, breakfast can be served in your room or in the lounge, the Breakfast room to be exact. The Hotel Adele & Jules rooms are coloured in a palette of subdued pastel tones, while the lounge area is a bit more vibrant, as you can see. The best way to describe it, would be: pristine Parisian chic with modern elements. In the lounge area, you can enjoy complimentary Tea Time each day from 4pm to 6pm in their Honesty Bar. This young hotel, opened in 2016 and is definitely one of the best hotel options in Paris, if you’re travelling with your better half, alone or business.

finding a perfect coat

With so many options out there, finding the perfect winter outerwear can be quite a task. Today you can find some great trendy options at high street, mid-range and luxurious stores. But still, with so many options out there, your choice can be hard. Finding the right winter wrapper is essential to any winter season. This year you can either go for a trendy biker-style shearling jacket (I featured in this outfit post), puffer coat, warm parka (like this one) or a timeless classic coat (like the one I choose for this outfit post). Anyway, keeping in mind the following rules may help you find the perfect one:

rule #1: Shop for quality, not quantity.
rule #2: Find one or two reliable and versatile outerwear pieces (rather than having a collection of mediocre pieces, which only take up space in your wardrobe).
rule #3: Make sure the materials are warm and top quality.
rule #4: When it comes to coats, avoid double-breasted garments if you wish to look slimmer/thinner.
rule #5: Don’t forget to take into consideration what you will be wearing underneath. Also, make sure you can lift your arms and drive easily. Great options are men-inspired coats, which are both trendy and comfortable.
rule #6: Choose the right length: e.g. mid-calf length works well with both trousers and skirts.
rule #7: Look for a coat that looks great buttoned up or undone. You will be able to wear it when the days are warmer as well.
rule #8: Patterns and vibrant colours are great, but it is much wiser to invest in a classic colour coat (like black, camel or navy).

My Parisian getaway is sadly over. Back in Ljubljana, I am preparing a Paris blog post series, starting off with a presentation of Hotel Therese, the first hotel we stayed in, while discovering Paris, France. Hotel Therese is a 4* star boutique hotel with a superb location, that convinced me with peacefulness, hospitality and a colour theme that perfectly matches my Instagram feed lately. Little Parisian luxuries can be found at the Hotel Therese…

The best hotel to discover the Louvre, the Palais Royal, the Tuileries and the Opera Garnier and still enjoy peace.

Hotel Therese truly has a superb location. It is ideal to discover many attractions of Paris, it is just a few steps away from the Louvre, the Palais Royal, the Tuileries and the Opera Garnier (it is literally one stop away: optionally just a short walk!). You are probably thinking, this is probably an extremely vibrant area with a lot of hustle and bustle, and you are right. But still, the rue Thérèse, the street that Hotel Therese is located at, is a true little peaceful, charming gem. There are quite a few restaurants and bistros nearby, just a short walk away there are also many shops (the location is perfect for shopaholics as well). A good night sleep is guaranteed…

The view from our deluxe room and bathroom at Hotel Therese opened directly to the Rue Therese. There’s something about the French windows and balconies, isn’t it? This is why on the second morning we decided to have breakfast right there, in our room. Hotel Therese has a nice breakfast area, but it can also be served in your room (which we definitely took advantage of). Rooms at Hotel Therese are elegantly furnished in the palette of soft colours (which btw match my Instagram theme perfectly), with great attention to detail in mind, mixing modern and antique elements. The delicious and energising breakfast gave us energy to discover the French capital to its fullest. In the afternoon the hotel staff welcomed us with high tea time in the lounge area, where we could enjoy a cup of coffee and tea, freshly squeezed orange juice and croissants. Oh, those little Parisian luxuries!
