Battered round the edges, dusty and musty

I probably haven’t told you before, but I was a huge bookworm as a kid. I like to joke that reading Harry Potter in late night hours, of course secretly – underneath my blanket with a small flash-light and later a cell-phone, probably got me to -6.00 eyesight I have today. Joke aside, I still love books. Sadly today I rarely find time to read and to be completely honest, I miss it. I miss the moment when you open it and by the time you finish the first page you’re completely sunk in. Books offer you an escape from the world, they let you travel without moving your feet, can broaden your mind, are a rich source of information, make you more articulate and well-spoken. Today, when bookshops are displaced by the internet, I still believe in magic when reading something that’s a little battered round the edges, dusty and musty. Something you find in your grandma’s attic or at the second-hand bookshop. As in life, you can find true gems in places you couldn’t imagine.

I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a book. – J.K. Rowling
